Call for Papers and Special Sessions
CALL FOR SCIVID PAPERS — MiBAN 2026
Event: International Conference on Microfluidics for Bio-, Agri- & Nano-Technologies (MiBAN 2026)
Location & Timing: Brisbane, Australia — January–February 2026
Aim. MiBAN 2026 convenes researchers, innovators, industry partners, and policymakers to present frontier advances in microfluidics and accelerate translation into practice. The program features keynotes, plenaries, and invited oral presentations selected from submitted abstracts.
Scope and Topics
Abstracts should report original advances and applications of microfluidics in one or more of the following domains:
-
Biotechnology & Medicine: single-cell analysis, genomics, organ-on-chip and microphysiological systems, diagnostics and point-of-care devices, continuous bioprocess monitoring, drug delivery platforms.
-
Agriculture & Food Systems: soil/water/crop diagnostics, biosensors for residues and pathogens, food safety and quality assays, microencapsulation of nutrients and probiotics, sustainable agri-biotech.
-
Nanotechnology & Advanced Materials: droplet/flow synthesis of nanoparticles and films, colloidal assembly and complex emulsions, nanofluidics, hybrid lab-on-chip systems.
-
Academia–Industry Collaboration: technology translation pathways, IP and licensing strategies, industrial demonstrations, startup and investment interfaces, cross-sector networking.
Abstract Submission (Oral Presentations)
-
What to submit: a single PDF (≤ 1 page) including title, authors and affiliations, 3–5 keywords, and a structured abstract (≈ 250–300 words) stating objective, method, key results, and significance. One optional figure is permitted.
-
Eligibility: work not published or under review elsewhere (conference posters excepted).
-
Evaluation: editorial and technical review for relevance, originality, clarity, and potential impact. Accepted abstracts are scheduled as invited oral talks within the thematic sessions.
Publication Opportunities (Post-Conference SciViD Proceedings)
Authors who wish to publish will be invited to submit a manuscript to the SciViD post-conference proceedings. All submissions undergo peer review; accepted articles receive DOI assignment and indexing.
Article Types
-
Short Communications — concise reports of emerging results or methods.
-
Research Articles — full studies with complete data and analysis.
-
Review Articles — critical syntheses of recent progress.
-
Perspective Papers — forward-looking analyses on challenges and opportunities.
Optional Video Science Paper
Authors may add a SciViD video article that visually documents methods and results to enhance transparency, reproducibility, and outreach. The video complements, rather than replaces, the written paper.
Open Science & Ethics
Data and code availability statements are encouraged; disclosures of funding and competing interests are required; human/animal studies must state approvals and consent where applicable.
Important Dates
-
Abstract deadline: TBA (2025)
-
Notification of acceptance: approximately 2–3 weeks after submission
-
Conference: January–February 2026 (Brisbane, Australia)
-
Manuscript deadline for SciViD proceedings: TBA (2026)
How to Submit
Submissions will be accepted via the conference portal (details to be announced). Please use the provided templates and observe word and figure limits. Queries about scope, formatting, or accessibility accommodations are welcome via the conference contact listed on the portal.
MiBAN 2026 integrates rigorous scientific exchange with clear pathways to deployment, establishing a modern standard for communicating, validating, and scaling high-impact microfluidic technologies.
CALL FOR SPECIAL SESSIONS — MiBAN 2026
You are warmly invited to organize a Special Session at the International Conference on Microfluidics for Bio-, Agri- & Nano-Technologies (MiBAN 2026). Special Sessions are a core part of the program, spotlighting emerging directions, enabling focused discussion, and building collaborative communities at the frontiers of microfluidics and its applications.
Format. Each Special Session occupies a 120-minute block with 5–6 oral presentations (~20 minutes each, including Q&A). Organizers may allocate up to 15 minutes for a brief opening overview or a micro-panel at the end. Demonstrations aligned with the topic are welcome if they remain technical and non-promotional.
Topical Fit. Proposals should align with MiBAN tracks: Biotechnology & Medicine, Agriculture & Food Systems, Nanotechnology & Advanced Materials, and Academia–Industry Collaboration & Innovation Pathways (including data-driven/AI-enabled microfluidics where relevant).
How to Propose
Submit a preliminary proposal via the Special Session Proposal Template (to appear on the conference website). You may apply with a partial speaker list; the final roster can be completed by the special-session deadline.
Proposal fields (max 2 pages):
-
Title and 1–2 sentence tagline
-
Synopsis (150–250 words): importance, gap addressed, anticipated impact
-
Topical fit with MiBAN tracks and expected audience
-
Proposed organizers (chair + optional co-chair) with affiliations and contacts
-
Tentative agenda (5–6 talk titles or themes; optional micro-panel/demo)
-
Diversity & inclusion plan (gender balance, early-career, underrepresented regions)
-
Provisional speakers (confirmed or invited, indicating status)
-
Logistics: any special AV, poster/demo tables, or hybrid needs
Deadlines:
-
Proposal submission: TBA (2025)
-
Decision/feedback: ~2–3 weeks after submission
-
Final speaker list & abstracts: TBA (2025)
Review Criteria & Selection
Proposals are evaluated for novelty and clarity of focus, alignment with MiBAN scope, diversity and geographic balance, feasibility (likelihood of securing ≥5 talks), and community-building potential. The program committee may suggest merging closely related proposals.
Organizer Responsibilities
-
Secure ≥5 confirmed talks and ensure all presenters register for MiBAN 2026 (no invited-speaker fee waivers).
-
Collect titles/abstracts, coordinate speaker schedules, and moderate the session.
-
Encourage open science practices (data/code availability where applicable).
-
Coordinate any technical demos (clear scientific content, disclosure of affiliations).
-
Meet deadlines; sessions below the talk threshold may be reassigned to regular tracks.
Conference Support: listing on the website, program promotion, standard AV set-up, and on-site coordination. Limited hybrid/recording support may be available depending on venue capabilities (request in proposal).
Publication Options
Speakers may choose between two pathways:
-
Full Papers (5–6 pages): After the conference, selected contributions may be invited to submit to the SciViD post-conference proceedings (peer-reviewed, DOI-assigned), with an optional SciViD Video Science companion to enhance transparency and reproducibility.
-
Presentation-Only / Short Papers (1–3 pages): Talk presented at MiBAN; extended abstract appears in the conference booklet (not indexed).
Policies
-
Conflict of Interest: Organizers should avoid stacking sessions with lab/organizational colleagues; include independent voices.
-
Commercial Balance: Product mentions must serve scientific understanding; purely promotional content is not permitted.
-
Code of Conduct & Accessibility: Sessions must follow conference conduct guidelines; please flag accessibility needs early.
By organizing a Special Session, you help shape the scientific agenda of MiBAN 2026, create a focal point for collaboration, and strengthen this forum for advancing microfluidic technologies from discovery to deployment.
